Abstract
Immunoglobulin (Ig)-containing protein interactions with actin and myosin are important for human health. The Ig-containing protein myotilin provides structural integrity to Z-discs, complex macromolecular assemblies required to support sarcomeres in contractile muscle. Myotilin binds to Z-disc components, including F-actin and α-actinin-2. We used small angle X-ray scattering and nuclear magnetic resonance combined with biochemical and biophysical approaches to investigate the molecular mechanisms of myotilin.
