Abstract

1. The suggested method enables us to obtain a realistic picture of the structure and combination of hydrocarbons and sulfur compounds in the oil distillates from sour crudes. 2. The distillate under study contains an extremely small amount of bicyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and very little of polycyclic aromatic systems. Most of the hydrocarbons contained in its sulfur-bearing aromatic part are represented chiefly by the naphthenic and aromatic molecules containing one aromatic ring. 3. The sulfur compounds are represented by a small amount of naphthenic derivatives of thiophane and thiophene, and basically consist of the derivatives of diphenylene sulfide, dinaphthylene sulfide, phenylenenaphthylene sulfide, and some amount of naphthenic and aromatic derivatives of thiophene. 4. The sulfur compounds are the principal carriers of the cyclic and aromatic characters of the distillate under study. 5. The investigation of the chemical composition of the distillate yielded data which prove the possibility of association of sulfur compounds with the polycyclic aromatic structures involved in the composition of the hydrocarbon and organic sulfur molecules.
