Abstract

The objective is the study of the structural and functional state of periodontal tissues in workers of the primary woodworking industry, having long permanent contact with unfavorable factors of the working environment.Material and methods. We selected 111 employees of the primary woodworking industry enterprise as an object of study, among them 78 people who had a long permanent contact with unfavorable factors of the production environment, and 33 employees of the administrative corps, who formed the control group of observation. Evaluation of periodontal status was performed using periodontal indices.Results. We found the rise of indices with an increase of the length of service at the enterprise. At the same time periodontal tissues in the examined patients of the main group were more affected by pathological processes. We have detected the need for professional hygiene and teaching skills of the oral cavity care in the majority of workers in both groups.Conclusions. We have determined a significant increase of pathological changes manifestation in periodontal tissues with the length service increase at the primary woodworking industry enterprise (P<0.05). It has been found that indexes of periodontal indices in workers of the main group are significantly higher and have a pronounced tendency to increase with the increasing the contact with unfavorable factors of the production environment.
