Abstract

The structural features of a series of ZnxMg1–xWO4 mixed crystals (x = 0, 0.26, 0.41, 0.68, or 1) have been investigated using X-ray diffraction analysis and Raman spectroscopy; the luminescence properties of the grown crystals have also been studied. The dependence of the unit-cell volume on the substitution-cation concentration x is determined. It is shown that the geometric parameters of WO6 octahedra are independent of the ratio of Zn and Mg atomic concentrations in crystals. Consistency between the luminescence and structural properties of ZnxMg1–xWO4 crystals is established.
