Abstract

Each part of speech, including a noun, has its own derivational paradigm. Note that the category of grammatical gender - male, female, medium (except for the general) was inherent in the nouns of the ancient Greek period. However, the historical development of the morphological structure English language led to the fact that the category of the grammatical gender was significantly modified and on different stages of development in their own way characterizes objects and phenomena. The purpose of the study is to reveal the features nouns of masculine, feminine, middle and general kinds and peculiarities of their translation in Ukrainian using the example of English-language works of art. The relevance of the topic lies in the study ofthe use of masculine, feminine, neuter gender nouns, and also some of them in common genus The object of the research is the nouns of modern English used in English-language works of art. Research methods: analytical, descriptive, historical.Scientific novelty lies in the study of the word-formation paradigm of genera in English linguistics using the example of individual works, as well as the study of the genus as a separate morphological category. Conclusions: the result of the study was the peculiarities and patterns of belonging of certain nouns to the male, female, secondary and general kinds in English linguistics.
