Abstract
Increasing efficiency of productivity in construction helps us to increase the profit with respect to negligible increase in cost of construction project. Developing country like India has relatively low labour productivity in construction and it needs to be improved. The objective of present study is to develop a Structural Equation Model (SEM) among identified factor of labour productivity and relationship among them. Productivity is directly related to GDP and Mumbai has one of the highest GDP among different cities in India. Therefore, in this study it has been decide to select the factors affecting labour productivity in Infrastructure projects in Mumbai area. Factors are divided into five groups such as Manpower, Management, planning & control, Jobsite condition, Material & Equipment, and External which are further subcategorized into 34 related factors. The similar factors were grouped under one main group. The questionnaire was distributed to the different construction professionals such as Assistant Engineer, Project Manager, Project Engineer, Civil Site Engineer and Supervisor etc. and the response was collected, further analysis of data is carried out in SPPS AMOS version 25. The results indicate that the productivity of labour in construction sector can be improved by careful studying critical factors and by considering their significance level. Construction professional can get benefits from this study in understanding factors affecting labour productivity and helps to take required measures.
