Abstract

The use of NMR spectroscopy in anisotropic media, particularly the application of residual dipolar couplings (RDCs) for the structural analysis of small molecules is presented. Experimental procedures such as choice and preparation of alignment media, as well as the selection of the right pulse-sequences is discussed along with computational techniques for data analysis. Methods for the analysis of flexible molecules are also presented and illustrated with several examples from literature.
