Abstract

The power of gold: Three chiral heterocycles are obtained by highly efficient regio- and stereoselective gold-catalyzed cycloisomerization of allenic hydroxylamine derivatives (see scheme). In all cases, the nitrogen atom acts as the nucleophile and attacks the allene in a 5- or 6-endo cyclization. The regioselectivity is controlled by careful choice of the gold precatalyst and of the protecting group for the nitrogen atom.
