Abstract

AbstractThe chapter deals with the structural design of stabilised rammed earth. Assessing the characteristic compressive strength of cement stabilised rammed earth (CSRE) has been discussed. The influence of load eccentricity on the strength and behaviour of CSRE walls has been dealt in detail. Stress reduction factors for slenderness and load eccentricity have been provided. The shrinkage phenomenon in CSRE elements and the shrinkage strains facilitating the prediction of shrinkage cracks has been discussed. Detailed discussions on the limit state design concepts as applicable to CSRE walls are provided. The chapter ends with CSRE wall design example.
