Abstract

A computer program is developed for providing quick and accurate selection of structural thickness of concrete pavements of streets, roads and highways. The input variables include the modulus of subgrade reaction, load safety factor, the 28-day concrete modulus of rupture, design truck information and an estimated beginning trial thickness. From the mentioned variables the proper stress table in the computer file is determined. Stress for maximum tandem load, and the stress ratio between stress and the modulus of rupture are then found. Further calculations determine the fatigue resistance used by the applied axial load. The program cycles the calculations to thicker of thinner pavement sections, and reports the recommended design thickness.
