Abstract

1. The corrosion resistance of multilayer nitride coatings is higher than that of single-layer ones, which may be explained by their greater thickness and features of their microstructure, including the absence of acicular crystals characteristic of singlelayer coatings. 2. Failure of nitride coatings under the action of a corrosive medium occurs at structural defects, which determine their corrosion resistance and electrochemical properties.
