in assessing required in-space repair missions and/or This paper discusses a method of identifying the structural damage to a lightly damped flexible space structure using experimentally obtained frequency response functions. The Eigensystem Realization Algorithm is used to extract modal information from the frequency response, data of the damaged structure. Based on extracted modal data, an eigenstructure assignment algorithm is developed in conjunction with an inverse connectivity formulation to determine damaged structural elements. A numercical example is presented along with preliminary results on an experimental lightly damped six-meter flexible frame structure.
