Abstract

This work proposes the preparation of novel carbon-based nanomaterials, the synthesis approach of Graphene oxide (GO), and reduced Graphene Oxide (rGO) from raw Graphite Powder (GP) by adopting hummer’s method followed by heat treatment. The prepared materials were performed different analytical instruments to investigate structural, chemical, and surface area of the samples were studied and reported. GO exhibits a honeycomb hexagonal lattice because it is reduced under the heat treatment process. The XRD authenticates GO spacing is greater than GP and rGO. The conversion of GO to rGO is verified by FTIR and the peak was observed at 1066 cm−1. The FTIR images of GO exhibits a wide peak in the high-frequency region between 3000 and 3700 cm−1. The SEM image of GO is more stretched out and flatter than rGO, which is folded and rolled. The prepared rGO has excellent transport properties for the development of supercapacitor applications.
