Abstract

Chemical vapor decomposition (CVD) method is used to synthesize single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), after purification process COOH functional group modified SWCNTs are obtained via oxidation reaction by using H2SO4/HNO3. 6-Phenyl-2-thiouracil (6P2T) molecule is bonded on the surface of functionalized SWCNTs. Raman spectroscopy was used to characterize bands of SWCNTs and differences among raw SWCNT, functionalized SWCNTs and 6P2T bonded SWCNTs are shown. FT-IR spectra have been used to determine vibrations of SWCNTs and the interaction sites between SWCNTs and 6P2T molecule. XRD and EDX methods indicate removing catalyst materials and amorphous carbon during the purification process.
