Abstract

The crystal structure of a new representative of the labuntsovite group from the Khibiny massif (the Kola Peninsula) has been refined. The unit-cell parameters are a = 14.298(7) A, b = 13.816(7) A, c = 7.792(3) A, β = 116.85(5)°, V = 1373.3 A3, sp. gr. C2/m, Raniso = 0.047, 1084 reflections with F > 4σ (F). The mineral differs from lemmleinite-Ba and other members of the group by the predominance of the vacancies in two key cationic positions—C position is occupied by Ba cations (37%) and D position is occupied mainly by Mn cations (47%).
