Abstract

Different new monoclinic structures have been discovered and structurally analyzed in Li-doped (Bi2+Sr2-xCuO6+δ)n(Srδ-y Cu6O16+z). The new structures can be interpreted as one-dimensional nonconservative, long-period superstructures of the (unmodulated) 2201 superconducting phase. High-resolution electron microscopy and selected area electron diffraction allow the proposal of detailed models for the perfect structures with n = 13/2 and 15/2 as well as for the numerous structural defects.
