Abstract

A series of Erbium (1-11 mol %) ions activated Barium titanate (BaTiO3) nanophosphors were synthesized by solution combustion method using urea (CH4N2O) as a fuel. The final product was well characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), scanning electron microscopy. The PXRD results confirmed the tetragonal phase. From DRS the Eg was estimated and found to be in range of 3.22-3.26 eV. The average crystallite size was calculated using Scherrer’s equation and Williamson Hall (WH) plots and found to be in the range of 20-30 nm. The present method was simple, economical and faster suitable for display device applications
