Abstract

In the present study, Sol-gel route was employed to synthesize the pure phase hexagonal wurtzite zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles with crystallite size and lattice strain ~ 21 nm and ~ 7.6 × 10-4 respectively. The synthesized ZnO nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRPD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy at room temperature. FTIR spectrograph demonstrates the presence of stretching vibration of Zinc-Oxygen (Zn-O) bonding. The Raman active optical phonon mode E2High at 438.59 cm−1 confirms the formation of pure phase wurtzite hexagonal ZnO nanoparticles.
