Abstract

Mg2SnO4 was successfully synthesized by modified Pechini method. The influence of calcination temperature on structural and morphological properties was investigated. Material was evaluated on photo-discoloration of golden yellow Remazol dye at different concentrations under UVC irradiation. X-ray diffraction patterns indicate the formation of an inverse cubic spinel phase with good crystallinity and high purity. FTIR and Raman spectroscopy results reinforced the synthesis of this type of structure. PL emission spectra clearly exhibit two emission bands, which are originated from defects created inside the band gap possibly related to oxygen vacancies. Photocatalytic efficiency of magnesium stannate may be related to this defects.
