Abstract

The present study is being undertaken to investigate the temperature dependent structural and morphological changes in aurichalcite precursor during its transformation into zinc copper mixed oxide. It involves the preparation of aurichalcite precursor using homogeneous precipitation method by urea hydrolysis and calcination of aurichalcite to obtain zinc copper oxide. The consequent structural and morphological changes during transformation have been investigated using characterization techniques such as powder X-ray diffractometer (PXRD), thermogravimetry differential thermal analyses (TG-DTA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It is believed that implications of this study will be helpful for better understanding of nature of zinc copper oxide during its application in various areas such as catalysis, gas sensing, and anti-microbial studies.
