Abstract

The Fe-Ni-C alloy films have been prepared by electrodeposition from aqueous solutions containing an iron(II) sulfate, nickel(II) sulfate, L-ascorbic acid, and citric acid. The Ni content in the Fe-Ni-C alloy films changed from 5.4 to 60.2 wt%, and the C content decreased from 0.92 to 0.06 with increase in the Ni concentration in solutions. The Fe-Ni-C alloy films showed hardness ranging from HV 800 to HV 500 by incorporating the interstitial C atoms and possessed an increased corrosion resistance, compared to the Fe-C alloy, and the corrosion resistance was improved by increasing the Ni contents.
