Abstract

Nanoparticles of nickel zinc (Ni-Zn) ferrite were synthesized by sol-gel method. X-ray diffraction patterns of samples confirmed the single phase cubic spinel structure. The crystallite sizes calculated using Debye–Scherrer formula is found to be in the nanometre range. The lattice parameter is found to rise with increase Zn concentration in the samples. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy confirmed the chemical compositions of the samples. SEM images of the samples showed spherical shaped nano particles. The magnetic properties were investigated using vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) at room temperature. The low value of coercivity confirms that prepared ferrites are of soft nature. The decrease in Curie temperature with the increase in Zn content was found using A.C. susceptibility measurements.
