Abstract

Magnetic susceptibility and neutron diffraction data show that NdMn 0.42Ge 2, TbMn 0.33Ge 2 and HoMn 0.33Ge 2 which exhibit defected CeNiSi 2 type crystal structure, order antiferromagnetically (G-mode ordering) below 34 ± 2, 26 ± 2 and 7 ± 2 K with ordered magnetic moments on R 3+ ions amounting to 1.55(15), 7.0(1) and 7.3(1) μ B respectively. Magnetic susceptibility vs. temperature curves give Néel points at 30 K for DyMn 0.32Ge 2 and 35 K for GdMn 0.38Ge 2ṡ;ErMn 0.27Ge 2 was found to order below 4 K.
