Abstract

Mixed selenide spinels of (Cd)[Cr 1.81In 0.19]Se 4 and (Cd 0.745In 0.255)[Cr 1.94In 0.06]Se 4 have been studied using X-ray diffraction, magnetic measurements and ESR spectroscopy. In 3+ ions accommodate both tetrahedral and octahedral sites in the spinel structure. The magnetic short-range order appears in the critical region from T c to about 200 K for the selenide spinels. The linear temperature dependence of the resonance linewidth at T>250 K is interpreted by an occurrence of one-phonon process in a spin-lattice relaxation.
