Abstract

The study reveals the structural and functional indices of left heart chambers at rest and the hemodynamic response to the physical exercise in 194 young athletes of different ages and sexes. In the older group of young athletes, adaptation to physical exercise causing tachycardia similar to that in the younger group results in a lesser myocardial oxygen consumption per unit mass, thus revealing more efficient functioning of the heart.
