Abstract

The structures of regular copolymers of butadiene of repeat unit [ButRBut], where R is an alkyl ligand, are studied by the preparation of model compounds HRButButRH under identical experimental conditions. The effect of varying experimental parameters, such as temperature, ligand, etc., on the probability of 1,2-addition is examined; the differences in activation energy between 1,2 and 1,4 addition are considered.
