Abstract

The article is striving to identify the diversity, patterns of construction and usage of reflexive structures, both verbal and nominal in Bronisław Zielinski’s Polish literary translation of the English-language novel “The Godfather” by the American writer Mario Puzo. The article analyses the frequency of the use of the reflexive forms that are built on the models of contact and distact post- and preposition of an enclitic form of the reflexive pronoun ‘się’ in relation to a verb. The relatively free and context-conditioned place of ‘się’ in the structure of the phrase and sentence is noted, subtypes of the model with distact preposition of ‘się’ are identified. The main attention is focused on the so-called. "reflexive" nouns that are not characteristic of either English or Russian, and ways of translating them into Polish from the original language.
