Abstract
Infection with Strongyloides stercoralis is a significant global public health problem. Hyperinfection syndrome occurs in immunocompromised hosts and is associated with chronic steroid therapy. If unrecognized, it is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Available regimens for the treatment of S. stercoralis in humans include oral agents and infrequently subcutaneous formulations.
