Abstract
It is shown that even at homogeneous pumping of glass-like materials macroscopic charge separation takes place. In spite of the strong Coulomb repulsion the pumped volume divides into electron and hole domains. As a result, a strong macroscopic electric field and a contribution to the refractive index appear. 1/ƒ noise in the refractive index fluctuation is predicted.
