Abstract
The development of high-energy particle accelerators required the development of a lens to channel the rays for a great distance, to concentrate the particles on the beam during the process of acceleration. After showing that the classical lens is insufficient to perform this tusks, the theoretical properties of strongfocusing lenses are discussed and the experimental study to attain them is described. Possible applications of strong-focusing lenses are reviewed. 20 references. (J.S.R.)
