Abstract

Plasmonic properties of arrays of aluminum nanocylinders produced by electron beam lithography on aluminum thin film were investigated. A localized surface plasmon and Bragg mode were observed. Systematic studies on the nanocylinders size, the grating constant and the excitation angle were experimentally performed in order to determine the dependence of the plasmon position on the modification of the geometrical parameters of the aluminum nanostructures. We demonstrated that both modes can be tuned in the whole visible range. We also observed a strong coupling of the Bragg mode with the localized surface plasmon. In this case, we measured a Rabi energy of 0.2 eV. (a) Scheme of aluminum nanograting and excitation configuration. (b) Bragg mode and LSP positions as a function of the angle.
