Abstract

This literature review explores the potential for the development of nursing practice in stroke rehabilitation based on the perceptions and experiences of patients directly affected by stroke. Research relating to the experiences of patients affected by the disease identifies the importance of social and psychological consequences of stroke. Nurses have the capacity to develop innovative interventions to ensure these issues are addressed in clinical practice.
