Abstract

THIS HANDBOOK is aimed at professionals with an interest in stroke and as such does not go into any detail about, for example, nursing assessment and management. It claims to equip readers with 'everything you need to function effectively on an acute stroke unit'; however, there is no mention of the social, economic and emotional effects of stroke on patients and families, which is essential for person-centred care planning.
