Abstract

Stroboscopic detection of nuclear forward scattered synchrotron radiation is used to detect the high-resolution 6.2keV Mössbauer resonance of 181Ta in tantalum metal. It is shown that synchrotron timing modes with a bunch interval ideal for 57Fe (typically around 150ns) are perfectly suited for the investigation of systems with a much larger decay time.
