Abstract

<p>Abstract: One idea to overcome the high cost production is reducing the cost of the purification<br />process. Alternative purification process is air stripping process. The aim of this study is to obtain<br />the optimum air flow rate in the stripping process of bioethanol solution. The equipments used in<br />the study are the stripper column, ball packing materials, compressors, condensor, and flowmeter.<br />The process was done at room temperature, atmospheric pressure, and 47 cm height of packing<br />of packing ball diameter of 1 cm. The flow rate of air entering the stripper column was 4,6; 5,9;<br />and 7,1 liters of air / min. The result of this study shows that the optimum air flow rate was 7,1<br />liters of air/min.<br />Keywords: stripping, bioetanol, ball packing.</p>
