Abstract
The transmission of several ion beams ( 1H, 2H, 16O, 32S, 58Ni, 107Ag, 127I, and 197Au) through the Munich MP-tandem were measured as a function of stripper foil thickness, ion injection limitation, and analyzed charge state at 10 MV terminal voltage. These data offer the possibility to optimize the stripper foil thickness for the specific experimental requirements. In addition the knowledge could be broadened, how to choose the ion injection limitation conditions in order to achieve a high yield of the analyzed heavy ion charge state and a long lifetime of the carbon stripper foil.
