Abstract

Statistical methods are used to calculate large-order Feynman graphs. In the $\frac{1}{N}$ (or planar) expansion of a model field theory, the graphs sum to a Nambu action. When quarks are added at the boundaries, we obtain a class of dual-string models with massive end points. Although difficult to solve explicitly, these models may avoid some of the problems of the usual dual strings. Our work suggests new avenues of research; especially relevant is the application to gauge theories.
