Abstract

I left nursing to read for a degree in biology at the North East London Polytechnic. I did this as I felt there was no point remaining in nursing in view of the hopeless task of getting onto a conversion course, and the pay and conditions in nursing. I would like to express my total support for the striking Manchester nurses and I think it's about time the Royal College of Nursing started to take similar action. The RCN is now being regarded by many nurses as weak in the face of present Government policies and this can seriously affect the membership numbers in the organisation.
