Abstract

We report a new method for strict localization of nonlinear interaction in optical waveguides. The technique uses stimulated Brillouin scattering to selectively transfer optical power between pump and interacting probes to accomplish successive amplification and deamplification. Highly nonlinear fiber was used to verify experimentally the new localization technique.
