Abstract

The stresses in a ribbed cylindrical shell with a reinforced circular hole, when the shell is subjected to internal pressure, were obtained by several experimental methods: brittle coating, electrical strain gauges, and photoelasticity. The results obtained were compared with those corresponding to a non-reinforced hole in a ribbed and unribbed shell and also to a reinforced hole in an unribbed shell.
