Abstract

Stresses and strains in axisymmetric problems are found by using scattered-light photoelasticity. Three retardation measurements and the strain-displacement relations in cylindrical coordinates are used to find the complete state of stress and strain. The method is demonstrated on a static shrink-fit problem.
