Abstract

Thick overburden layers always exist in the riverbed area where a concrete faced rockfill dam locates, and the deformations of overburden layers have significant influences on the stress and deformation of the dam body and anti-seepage wall. Now it is simulated by 3D elastoplastic FEM using an integrated model including the dam body and the thick overburden layers under it. The joint of face and toe slabs in three directions, complicated material zoning, construction and storage processes were simulated, and the rockfill was also considered by using “shen zhujiang” elastoplastic model of double yield surfaces. According to different overburden layer parameters, distribution and changing rules of stress and deformation of the dam body, face and anti-seepage wall were analyzed.
