Abstract

The behavior of a thin-walled, high-pressure air cylinder when it is punctured by a cylindrical striker was investigated. The stress state of the shell was calculated numerically with the use of Timoshenko and Kirchhoff-Love shell behavior models. The results of experimental and theoretical investigations are compared and recommendations on designing thin-walled, high-pressure air cylinders are given.
