Abstract

The stress distribution near the free edge of the interface of a dissimilar materials joint with inhomogeneous temperature distribution can be described analytically by a two-terms relation. The stress intensity factor of the singular term is determined from finite element calculations. A general expression of the stress intensity factor for a polynomial temperature distribution is presented.
