Abstract

The stress intensity factors (SIFs) of the kinked crack emanating from a hole in an infinite plate are calculated by Muskhelishvili’s formalism. A numerical Schwarz–Christoffel (S-C) conformal mapping method is proposed to calculate the mapping function which transforms the relatively complex configuration of the crack onto a unit circle. The application of this method to the cases of kinked crack and hole crack problems shows good accuracy of SIFs compared to the results of other researches. The performance of the application to the hole crack with multiple kinks shows the potential of this method in the analysis of crack with complex configuration.
