Abstract

The objective of this study was to assess the stress in the students after lock down due to outbreak of Corona Virus (COVID-19). Methods: An Observational study design was used. The study population comprised students enrolled at different school, college, university in Nepal. Sample of 300 students were taken for study. Non-probability snow ball sampling technique was used. A set of semi structured questionnaire was used for the data collection where Google forms were sent to students via different social site. The data was analyzed via Google form result analysis system, according to the data collected in the Google form and Google database. Result: On the analysis of the data, result resembles that (44.3%) of respondents were threatened sometime due to corona virus. Majority of respondents (42.4%) were having increased stress sometime during lock down due to the corona virus outbreak. More than half of respondents (68%) were worried about their studies. More importantly, increasing days in confinement have raised stress to (41.3%) of respondents. More than half i.e. (61.7%) of respondents preferred offline class than online class and (73.7%) of students are not satisfied with online class. Furthermore, (30%) of respondents lack access to a mobile device or Wi-Fi at home for digital learning which has also been a triggering factor of stress in students. 68% of the respondents experience stress due to the lengthening of academic year due to uncertainty related to corona virus pandemic. Conclusion: This study concludes that, most of the students are experiencing increased stress sometime due to lock down and are threatened about corona virus outbreak. Some factor associated with increases stress are increasing days in confinement, worries about studies, online classes, and lack of access to a mobile device or Wi-Fi at home for digital learning, lengthening of academic year due to uncertainty related to corona virus.
