Abstract

Illustrative two-dimensional micromagnetic simulations are carried out for amorphous ferromagnetic wires with diameter D⩽5 μm and aspect ratios up to L z / D=20. A radial domain structure is obtained for a wire with λ s>0 in case an effective anisotropy constant K e is high enough, K e/2 πM s 2⩾0.3, where M s is the saturation magnetization. A structure of the bamboo type domain wall has been calculated for the first time for a wire with λ s<0. It resembles that of La Bonte–Hubert domain wall in a thin soft type ferromagnetic film.
