Abstract

The magnetization of ferromagnetic amorphous Fe 40Ni 40 B 20 ribbon is measured at temperatures 100<T<250 K in the presence of uniaxial stress (up to 160 MPa) applied along the ribbon length. Analysing the data based on spin-wave theory the stress dependence of the saturation magnetization, the spin-wave stiffness coefficient and the range of the interaction are determined. The magnetic moment, spin-wave stiffness co-efficient and the range of interaction increase with an increase in stress.
