Abstract

Plane-stress solutions are reported for perforated plates with triangular hole patterns under uniform edge loading, hollow hexagons with internal pressure, and a hollow square in uniform shear. Pertinent features are described of a specially developed computer program based on the approximate solution of the biharmonic equation in polar coordinates by the point-matching method. The program is tailored to the solution of two-dimensional elasticity problems that involve solid or perforated structures with boundary conditions in terms of stresses and displacements.
