Abstract

Abstract The material of bone is a natural bio-composite material. The realistic behavior of bone under different loads can be estimated using finite element analysis which is widely used numerical tool for stress analysis. The stress analysis of bone with appropriate material properties and accurate geometry is a challenging task. The determination of accurate stress is very helpful for taking clinical decision in the field of orthopedic biomechanics. The objective of this work is to prepare the solid model of the bone from the Computed Tomography scanned images of human obtained from a health care center. The compressive stress in the cortical bone is estimated under different loading conditions. The result obtained is found to be in good agreement with the published literature.
